The Institute for Genome Sciences (IGS)is led by Jacques Ravel, Ph.D. Members of the IGSteam have helped to revolutionize genomic discoveries in medicine, agriculture, environmental science, and biodefense. By applying genomic tools to clinical research, these investigators are creating new dynamics for understanding individual differences in our susceptibility to disease, for understanding the role of our body’s microorganisms in health and disease, and for exploring new personalized therapeutics. The Research Data Analystwill perform computational and modeling analyses of large omics (metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, metabolomics and immunological) datasets. These analyses will be in support of several ongoing projects in the laboratory that aim to better understand the role of the vaginal microbiome in preterm birth. The Research Data Analyst will also support the senior biomathematician in developing new analytical strategies/tools to integrate multi-omics datasets. Essential Functions: * Responsible for collecting and analyzing data for statistical studies. This position will apply statistical and mathematical models to quantify and interpret research findings. * Utilize the most effective method of data collection and coding. Check validity and accuracy of data ensuring compliance with quality control requirements. * Compile and analyze data for research programs. Coordinate and maintains data reports and database files on progress of programs, studies, and/or projects. Receives, inventories, enters, and organizes collected data. * Prepare and present reports for presentation or submittal to sponsoring agent, Principal Investigators, and staff. * Perform searches to generate standard and customized reports using statistical applications such as SPSS, SAS, R, STATA, and Excel. Summarize results of searches. * Assist in the preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and proposals by providing and presenting statistical information as tables, charts, or graphs. * Performs other duties as assigned. Education:Bachelors in Information Management, Social Science, Public Policy, Mathematics, Statistics, Health Sciences, or field of study related to the research. Experience: *Prior experience with SAS, STATA, SPSS, and/or Excel is preferred. *Other:May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.
