The Role

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to collaboratively design, maintain, and expand cloud infrastructure with an automation-first mindset. As an active participant throughout the software development lifecycle, an individual in this role considers security, efficiency, and sustainability with every decision, and is ready to respond to a dynamic technological and business landscape.

Your day-to-day

• Manage production cloud infrastructure including Linux servers, RDBMS and NoSQL databases, Docker containers, and more

• Write scripts that use the AWS API to get results faster than using the web console

• Manage the telemetry to alerting pipeline and respond to alerts

• Use metrics to make informed decisions about scale and cost

• Do more than just perform operational tasks – design how they are done

What you bring to the team

• Experience with AWS - especially EC2, RDS, IAM, S3, and the API

• Experience with automation software such as Ansible and Terraform, and familiarity with the principles of IaC (Infrastructure as Code)

• Familiarity with Git and Python, including the ability to independently learn your way out of any challenges

• Fluency with common networking and Linux concepts and troubleshooting techniques such as DNS, TLS, bash, cron, environment variables, etc.

• An understanding of fundamental DevOps challenges such as scaling capacity without waste and alerting without fatigue

• An instinct for learning why things work the way they do using experimentation and deductive reasoning

• A passion for finding elegant solutions that anticipate future needs while avoiding bottlenecks and manual interventions

• Willingness to work closely with the team to eliminate silos and work towards a unified automation approach

Beneficial Experience

• While not required, experience with Kubernetes, Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Spark, and/or the Serverless framework would be a great help
