Job Overview:

We are looking for a talented UI/UX Design Intern to join our Digital Services Portfolio Innovations Team. In this role, you will work closely with the business stakeholders, sponsors, and members of Ricoh’s Innovation Team to gather voice of the customer (VOC) solution and services requirements. From there, you will partner with the team to conceptualize and design innovative, user-centric experiences for our solutions and services. Your primary goal will be to create interactive user interfaces for clients and improve quality, usability, and functionality across our existing platforms. The role requires expertise with UI Design Principles, understanding of layout aesthetics, and knowledge of web technologies from research and professional experience.

UI/UX Design Intern Responsibilities:

  • Create user flows, wireframes, and prototypes to effectively communicate design ideas.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (including customers, product managers, developers, and stakeholders) to ensure designs meet user needs.

  • Conduct usability testing, gather feedback to iterate on designs.

  • Design UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how the application functions and looks.

  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems.

  • Prepare and present drafts to internal teams.

  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Education Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree or an advanced degree (Master's or Ph.D.) in a relevant field such as UI/UX design , interaction design , Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology, Cognitive Science, Experiential Design, or a related discipline

  • Proficiency in design tools such as Sketch , Figma , or Adobe XD .

  • Solid understanding of user-centered design principles .

  • Previous coursework or practical experience in UX design, UX research, information architecture, visual design, or related subjects

  • Graduating December 2024 (for undergraduates), or later for advanced degree

Additional Job Qualifications:

  • A portfolio is required at the time of interview and should demonstrate a strong understanding of user-centered design principles, design thinking methods, usability, and best practices

  • Demonstrable skills include: user research, usability testing, information hierarchy, layout, web and mobile interface design, planning and design documentation

  • Ability to create wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes using industry-standard design tools (we use Figma)

  • Familiarity with ADA/WCAG 2.2 compliance and accessibility standards

  • Familiarity with front-end development technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and their implications on UI/UX design

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including product managers, developers, and stakeholders

  • Strong communication and presentation skills to articulate design concepts and solutions

  • Able to work a minimum of 20 hours (up to 40 hours in the summer)
