Amazon Senior Manager, UX Design, Amazon Pharmacy in Seattle, Washington

Amazon Pharmacy is core pillar of Amazon Health and aspires to become Earth’s most customer-centric pharmacy, where access to prescription medication is simple, affordable and convenient. We believe that by removing and reducing the barriers that prevent people from taking their medications, we can help customers conveniently get the medications they need, when they need them and take them as prescribed.

The Senior Manager of UX Design is a key leader in the Pharmacy Organization, responsible for envisioning the modern pharmacy and building a customer-centric experience that puts the customer in control of managing their medications, for themselves and their loved-ones. In this role you will develop and evangelize a north-star vision for how customers shop for medication, manage their prescriptions, and making it easy for customers to always get the best value. You influence across multiple partner and local teams, drive mechanisms to connect those teams’ work into a single, holistic, end-to-end experience for our customers. You play a leadership role in Amazon Pharmacy’s product development, up-leveling the aesthetic, usability, and delightfulness of CX.

Key job responsibilities

  • Raises the bar on design quality with a team of strong design talent, but spends most of their time in the overarching portfolio’s design strategy, negotiating priorities, focus, and overall clarity of solution with cross-functional product and tech directors and general managers.

  • Owns and drives the mechanisms used by the design team to work with multiple partners teams in order to get alignment on customer problems, product vision, and accurate priorities. Creates scalable systems that enable federation of design work.

  • Works proactively through the ambiguity of understanding customer needs, defining new products, and applying new technologies. Ensures the resulting experiences are simple, clear, and compelling.

  • Stays on the cutting edge of what’s new in technology and user experience, leading the team to identify and experiment with new promising tech and interaction patterns.

  • Inspires, leads, and develops a diverse team, creating a culture of creativity and innovation.

  • Contributes as a key leader to the Design Culture and Community at Amazon.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of leading multi-discipline Design teams (ie. visual design, interaction design, user research, etc.) experience

  • Experience leading a diverse team in the delivery of experiences from end to end (user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity visuals)

  • An online portfolio of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions across desktop and mobile devices

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills

  • Proven experience with rapid, iterative design and development processes

  • Fluency in best practices for multi-platform information architecture and design, as well as strong knowledge of usability principles and techniques

  • Bachelor’s, or equivalent degree, in Design, HCI, or related field or equivalent professional experience within the design field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong bias for action including the ability to juggle multiple priorities and effectively deliver in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves to meet business and product deliverables.

  • Design operations experience to drive organizational design, product roadmaps, project planning, and resource prioritization.

  • Possess excellent communication, presentation, written, interpersonal and analytical skills.

  • Post-graduate education in design, HCI, business, or related field or experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $268,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
