Currently, we are seeking a motivated, career and team-oriented cybersecurity data engineer in support of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Continuous Diagnostic & Mitigation (CDM) DEFEND E Program. The CDM DEFEND E Program is a critical component of CISA’s national effort to ensure the defense and resilience of cyberspace.

The CDM DEFEND E Program mission is to provide a standardized platform to collect, transform, and integrate cybersecurity data from relevant authoritative data sources into a coherent data, delivering actionable information into Agency and Federal Dashboards to identify risk areas in support of mitigation as well as to facilitate coordinated agency and national response to cyber-threats.

This is a remote position where the candidate can work from any location within the United States provided, they are able to work on an eastern time zone schedule.

The Cloud Engineer provides the necessary technical expertise to architect and design cyber security solutions to be deployed into cloud-based and hybrid environments for Federal Government clients. This position requires thorough hands-on knowledge of cloud and security architectures, design methodologies, tools, and techniques employed to reduce the client’s cyber security risk posture. The successful candidate will bring a consultative approach to solving our clients’ cyber security problems, coupled with demonstrated experience designing enterprise cybersecurity solutions utilizing cloud-based tools for Federal government clients.

The hired Cloud Engineer will be at the forefront of our cloud infrastructure activities, driving architectural and deployment decisions, and refining our cloud strategy. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the scalability and reliability of our technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage the multi-tenant cloud environments on AWS and Azure platforms.

  • Architect highly available, scalable, and secure systems using AWS and Azure.

  • Define and implement optimal cloud solutions to meet established business requirements.

  • Establish cloud architectural standards and best practices across the company.

  • Deliver cloud platform architecture documents detailing the vision for how AWS and Azure technology will be used internally.

  • Perform technical evaluations, capacity planning, and testing for new cloud technologies introduced to the infrastructure.

  • Ensure security is integrated into all cloud architecture solutions to meet compliance and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with the development team to identify suitable cloud strategies for deployment.

  • Apply best practices of DevOps such as CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, Automation, and Orchestration.

  • Design, Implement and manage disaster recovery and create backups.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or related field.

  • Proven experience as a Cloud Engineer or similar role, with expertise in AWS and Azure platforms.

  • Cloud Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expertise are required.

  • Minimum of 4 years of enterprise cloud Architecture experience, combined with 7 years of hands-on enterprise IT engineering experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience architecting or engineering in Federal Government networks

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience supporting an ISSO/ISSM in the development of Security Authorization requirements by providing technical expertise of system implementation. Includes providing technical evidence in support of A&A processes. Includes experience with NIST RMF

  • Must be able to articulate emerging cybersecurity, Cloud, or other IT technology trends

  • Strong understanding of industry best practices related to the implementation of cybersecurity tools, information security policy, NIST, and FISMA controls.

  • Proficient understanding of Cloud application and infrastructure security best practices.

  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure automation tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.

  • Experience with containers such as Docker and container orchestration services such as Kubernetes.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well in a team environment.

  • Excellent communication skills for translating complex cloud architectures into understandable solutions and for team collaboration.

Security/Clearance Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen and pass a background investigation.

  • Able to obtain and maintain a DHS Suitability/Entry on Duty (EOD)

Physical Requirements

  • Office work, typically sedentary with some movement around the office

The projected compensation range for this position is $111,400-$185,700. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, ManTech invests in it’s employees beyond just compensation.
