Senior Legal Researcher - Center for Global Health Science and Security - Georgetown University Medical Center

The Center for Global Health Science and Security (https://ghss.georgetown.edu/about/) at Georgetown University, conducts original research the help decision makers worldwide build sustainable capacities to prevent, detect, respond to public health emergencies and provide policymakers, donors, and researchers with a high-quality evidence base to make decisions that promote health security.

Job Overview

The Senior Legal Researcher position is open to early and mid-career legal analysts interested in working at the intersection of United States policy, public health and infectious disease outbreaks.

Working with Dr. Rebecca Katz and the Georgetown University Center for Global Health Science and Security team, they support novel research on the policy environment pertinent to disease outbreaks in the US; and lead projects related to the collection and analysis of US policies related to public health, authors peer-reviewed publications, supports on-going research projects within the Center.

Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation

Reporting to and working primarily with Dr. Rebecca Katz, the Senior Legal Researcher collaborates with other members of the center, including faculty and research and administrative staff.

This position has been designated as Hybrid. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed in order to meet the evolving needs of the University. Requirements and Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (MSc, MA, MPhil, PhD, JD, etc.) in Government, International Relations, Global Health, Policy Analysis, Law, or similar fields

  • 5 to 7 years of experience in policy analysis and/or legal research [note: consideration will be given to an equivalent combination education and work experience]

  • Advanced knowledge of the United States legal and governmental systems

  • Demonstrated success with peer-reviewed publications

  • Project Management positions/demonstrated leadership experience in a professional environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data visualization experience and skills

  • Interest in global health security, US policy, and infectious disease outbreak response

  • Demonstrated success in publishing peer-reviewed articles in relevant fields

  • Significant experience with policy analysis
